When it comes to innovation and entrepreneurship, the founder of DEXT Technologies, 29-year-old Ofori Charles Antipem has distinguished himself extensively. He is a staunch supporter of the STEM fields and his current endeavours include pooling all of his interests into a single project in which he will devote his whole life to giving low-cost scientific instructional materials to youngsters across the African continent.
Africa Education Gateway, an Independent Educational Consultant and Service Provider that provides world-class training and educational consultancy services, and DEXT Technologies began formalizing their relationship on Friday, May 6, 2022, at the company’s headquarters in East Legon. The goal of this collaboration is to make it easier for Dext Technology to reach out to more elementary schools.
The Science Set is a spectacular creation of Antipem’s design, created to provide students with access to a one-of-a-kind toolset as well as hands-on experience with the Science curriculum. It costs just GHC60 to purchase each set, which has 45 scientific components.
The Science Set is a personalised lab that assists basic education students in obtaining practical instruction on scientific theories based on the approved curriculum. It comprises detailed 3D simulations on selected GES Science topics and is customized to meet the needs of individual students.
In an interview with School World Media, Mr Caleb Fugah, head of marketing at DEX technologies, revealed that “the most innovative solutions influence the culture of teaching and learning.” He was referring to a point he made earlier about winners of the prestigious National Science and Maths Quiz performing abysmally at a global science competition in Portugal because they were unable to identify a device provided to solve a problem.
It is his contention that this failure demonstrates the need for science-based courses to include a practical component in the teaching and learning process. The Science Test Kit, which mimics a 3D depiction of the digestive system, the ecosystem, forces and movement, green energy, and the solar system, among a slew of other essential topics, is available for purchase. Approximately 600 schools throughout the world are now using science kits. Some Ghanaian schools have already included its application in their practical assessments, which is a good sign.
Dext Technologies, which employs over 400 people in the Ashanti region alone, has the potential to give scientific sets to all of Ghana’s schools, says Mr Caleb Fugah, despite the government’s failure to provide assistance after multiple presentations and efforts to get the necessary support.
