Something to look forward to: After waiting more than 15 years for a new entry in the main Fable series, the latest installment of the RPG arrives on February 23, 2027. Ahead of its release, Playground Games has revealed the game’s hardware requirements. A wide range of PCs should be able to play the game, but things get demanding at 1440p or 4K at 60fps.
For those who want the basic low-preset experience of 1080p at 30fps, at least an RTX 5050 or RTX 2060, AMD RX 6600, or Intel Arc A580 is required. The minimum CPU is a Ryzen 5 2600 or Intel i7 6850K, while the minimum RAM requirement is 12GB.

Moving on to the Medium preset, this offers 1440p at 30fps. Unusually, Playground Games has listed 1200p at 60fps, suggesting 1080p/60fps should be comfortably within reach on the same hardware. This setting pushes the minimum requirements to an RTX 5060/3060 Ti, RX 9060XT, or RX 6700XT. The CPU goes up to a Ryzen 5 5600 or Intel i5 11600KF, while RAM is 16GB for this and all higher presets.
Playing at 1440p at 60fps is becoming increasingly popular these days, but the specs suggest this might be out of reach for a lot of gamers. The GPU requirements are an RTX 5070, RTX 3080 Ti, RX 9070, or RX 7900 XT, while the CPU is a Ryzen 7 7700XX or Intel i7 12700K. That’s more demanding than the upcoming The Blood of Dawnwalker, though Fable does look prettier.
It should come as no surprise to see that the Ultra 4K@60fps setting requires a very beefy rig. It asks for an RTX 5080 or 4080 – no mention of an AMD alternative – while the CPU is a Ryzen 9 7900X or Intel i9 13900K.
An SSD is also required, as has become pretty much standard for big releases these days. Something else we don’t often see is the recommendation that XMP and ReBAR be enabled.
There appears to be a refreshing lack of any disclaimer about upscaling being used for these specs and resolutions – an RTX 5080 for 4K/60fps certainly sounds like it’s running natively – though DLSS, FSR, and XeSS are expected to be supported.
Fable was one of our most anticipated games of 2026, before it was delayed to 2027. The trailers suggest the latest entry could live up to the brilliant first two games, while the trademark comedy and fairy-tale absurdity remain intact.
