Meghan Markle has been advised that her decision to skip events important to Prince Harry to spend more time with their children could backfire in the long-run.

In May, the Duchess of Sussex declined to accompany the Duke of Sussex to King Charles III’s Coronation in London in favor of celebrating her son Prince Archie Harrison’s fourth birthday.

And earlier this month, she skipped the opening ceremony of the Invictus Games, which Harry created in 2014, apologizing to contestants and citing the need to do the school run for her late arrival in Germany.

But PR expert Edward Coram-James told Daily Express US that snubbing the Duke’s work could leave Meghan struggling even more to emerge as a public figure in the long run – and could fuel speculation about the state of their relationship.

Coram-James said: “When it comes to the question about why Meghan decided to focus on parenting over the opening to the Invictus, and whether I think that this was a good decision: no, I don’t.

“I would argue that the Duchess of Sussex can choose any of the 365 days of the year to focus on parenting.

“She’s extremely busy and is constantly attending ceremonies, events and work commitments that require her to step away from family life for a short period of time.

“I would argue that two of the most important days in Harry’s last year have been the Coronation of his father, and the opening of his professional baby Invictus. And Meghan has missed both, to focus on parenting.”

The GoUp founder noted the Duchess of Sussex was repeatedly spotted out and about around Los Angeles earlier in September, partying away at Beyoncé’s concert and brunching out with her pals.

He pointed out that the closing ceremony of an event, even one as big as the Invictus Games, tends to be less “prestigious” and the optics don’t look as good.

He continued: “She’s found time to attend a multitude of other, seemingly less personally significant events this year.

“Yes, she attended the closing ceremony, but a closing ceremony is often considered far less prestigious than the opening.

“I would advise that, if Meghan is to dispel rumors of a personal rift with her husband, she should be seen attending the events that are important to him.

“To be clear: this may well have been a joint decision, and the optics could be (and likely are) very deceiving here.

“But, just because the optics may not reflect the reality, doesn’t mean that they should not have paid more attention to the optics.”
