Hartlepool is the cheapest seaside town to buy a house, beating Blackpool into second place, analysis by Express.co.uk shows.
A home in the County Durham town costs less than half the price of an average UK property.
Hartlepool homes cost an average £124,000 each, or 3.8 times the local salary, according to Express.co.uk‘s analysis.
This compares to the average property price in the UK, which stood at £282,000 in the year to January.
Blackpool‘s average house price was £133,000 over the same period, the analysis shows.
Hartlepool is hailed for its spectacular coastal views, marina, beaches, parks and nearby countryside.
The small seaside resort of Seaton Carew Beach is an absolute must for visitors and locals alike, with Hartlepool Marina one of the town’s “most alluring” locations, according to Explore Hartlepool.
It is home to the Museum of Hartlepool and the town’s own tall ship, HMS Trincomalee. A “splendid” promenade links the marina to Seaton Carew and miles of golden sand.
Hartlepool’s arts and culture scene boasts a Vue Cinema, National Museum of the Royal Navy Hartlepool and Hartlepool Art Gallery among other attractions.
There is a wide selection of eateries in Hartlepool as well, including The Marine Hotel, Lock Gates, Sheesh Mahal, Thai Village, Matteos and Casa Del Mar.
Hartlepool boasts its fair share of pubs too, with The Owl, The Jacksons Wharf, The Tall Ships, The Raby Arms and The Spotted Cow just a few of the town’s watering holes.
The town also plays host to the Headland Carnival, an annual summer event jam-packed with rides, fairground attractions, stalls and a parade.

The A179 and A689 are the two main roads which lead into Hartlepool from both the north and south via the A1 (M) and A19.
Hartlepool train station is minutes from the town centre, with connections to the rest of the UK.
There are regular direct train services across the North East to Newcastle, Middlesbrough and Sunderland. Long-distance services to London and Edinburgh can be reached via connecting trains at York and Darlington.
