The Turkish Maarif Foundation and the Al-Hijra Club have signed an agreement to establish an ultramodern school in Accra to improve educational opportunities between the Turkish government and Ghana.
The Turkish Embassy and the Turkish Maarif Foundation announced the new partnership on October 12, 2022, at Spectrum International School, as part of plans to improve education delivery in the country.
Prof. Dr Mehmet Ozkan, Executive Board Member of the Turkish Maarif Foundation, said during the occasion that the foundation was renting the Spectrum International School administered by the Al-Hijra Club for ten years, with the school renamed as a Marrif School throughout the collaboration.
The Turkish government set up the Turkish Maarif Foundation in 2016. The mission of the state foundation is to give high-quality, comprehensive education to young people around the world. As the sole body allowed to deliver educational services overseas on behalf of the Turkish State, the foundation’s objective is to carry out comprehensive educational activities across the world based on shared human values and the Anatolian tradition of knowledge.
With over 50,000 students worldwide, the organisation operates 363 educational institutions and 51 dorms. As a result, the TMF has jurisdiction over institutions across North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
Most Turkish Maarif institutions are in Africa, where the most demand exists.
