A train has become “London’s biggest public sauna” after delays have left passengers trapped for over two hours “without air con”.
Paramedics have attended the scene as commuters report rising temperatures in the crowded carriage.
The passengers are reportedly trapped without aircon or electricity, with one even forcing the window open in a desperate attempt to get fresh air.
Others resorted to using advertising posters to keep cool, while some passengers are understood to be having nervous breakdowns.
National Rail has confirmed that disruption has been caused by a fire “next to the track” at Gunnersbury station.
Passenger Simon Gentry told Express.co.uk the train was “very packed and very hot”. He added people were “fainting and crying”.
One person tweeted at 7.32pm: “Stuck on District line train outside Gunnersbury for over two hours now.
“Officially London’s biggest public sauna. Shame it’s not free!”
Another said on Twitter that they have had “no real updates or efforts to properly communicate with people or assist the struggling passengers” and “no Transport for London representation other than the driver.”
Paramedics can be seen attending the scene equipped with emergency resuscitation equipment.

A National Rail spokesperson said on Twitter: “A fire next to the track at Gunnersbury is causing disruption to journeys running through this station.
“As a result, London Overground services are currently unable to run to / from Richmond. Trains may be cancelled or revised.”
